SCA Council meetings

Meetings are held in the Village Hall at 7.30 (unless otherwise notified).

Agendas for these meetings are normally sent to registered representatives of paid up organisations and individual Council members. If you are not in this category and would like to receive an agenda please .

Any person is welcome to attend these meetings, and details are posted on the notice board in the Village Hall.

SCA Quiz

This popular annual event returns to the Village Hall on Friday 13th November. There is an entry fee for teams of 4 of £5 and registration will start at the Village Hall at 7pm.

Spondon Strollers

This group meets every Wednesday at 9.45am outside Spondon Village Hall for short, sociable walk. New walkers are always welcome. Further details are in this leaflet or by  Email address protected by JavaScript.

Spondon Historical Society

Meet regularly in the Village Hall on the 2nd Monday of the month, starting at 7.30pm.  Visitors £1.

Asterdale WI

Asterdale WI meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. It goes without saying that we welcome any new members to our meetings.

Don't forget the WI Victorian fair on Saturday 21st November, in the Village Hall from 9.30 to noon.

Arts and Crafts Club

The Club, which has now been running for several months, was initially funded by the Neighborhood Board but has now become self supporting.

It meets for a couple of hours every week to enjoy one another’s company and share experiences of both new and existing ‘Arts and Crafts’ activities.

Currently the club is having a ‘Summer Recess’ restarting on 17th September. It will then meet in the Village Hall every Thursday, as before, between 2pm and 4pm with a modest fee of £2.

So far the group has covered pottery, printing, card making, decoupage, box design and paper making.
It caters for both disabled and able bodied people and the Club decides what they will do as a group or as individuals. All abilities are welcome and everybody’s needs are catered for and new ideas are welcomed.

All meetings are at 7.30pm (unless otherwise stated) in the Village Hall, usually on the first Wednesday of the month. Entrance fee is £2 for adults, £1 juniors

Locko Amateur Dramatic Society

The next full production is "The Black Widow", written by Paul Thain, at the Village Hall from Thursday 29th to Saturday 1st May.

Activities at Edmund Hall

Edmund Hall is on Edmund Road, Spondon and provides a variety of activities suitable for all ages. There is a car park and it is fully wheelchair/buggy accessible.

Danceworks Unlimited, Lessons in Ballet, Tap, Disco, and Gymnastic Dance for all ages. Various days and times

Nagare-En-Jujitsu Martial Art Lessons for children, Friday evenings and Saturday mornings

Belly Dance lessons by Diana, Tuesday evenings

Young @ Heart Club - 3rd Wednesday afternoon of the month

Yoga - Thursday morning and evening

Neighbourhood forum meetings

 Local Councillors, Police, Derby Homes and other community partners meet with local residents to discuss issues that are important to the local community. The meetings (which start at 6.30pm) are as follows:

The police are conducting a series of "surgeries", the first Monday of every month at the Library, Sitwell Street between 5pm and 7pm. From the October meeting, there will also be members of the "Safer Spondon" group of the Neighbourhood Board. No appointments necessary  - just drop in.
